Some Elephant Facts:
There are two types of elephant, African and Asian Elephant and they are distinguable by their ears.
African elephants have larger ears and they are shaped like the African continent.
Asian elephants have smaller ears that look a bit like the India sub-continent in shape.
Their trunks have about 150,000 muscles in them and are very sensitive.
They have very good memories, especially the matriarchs, who remember friends and enemies. Adults can consume 300 pounds (136kg) of food everyday.
They have very thick skin, around 2.5cm in most places, so good luck with that first bite...
They communicate via vibrations.
These magnificent large animals urgently need our protection as poaching is still a major problem...
